Jaipur, India

The morning of leaving for Jaipur we made one last stop outside of Agra to see Fatehpur Sikri which was built by Akbar and the capital was moved there. It was only occupied for 14 years and then the capital was moved due to the lack of water in that area. It is referred to as the Ghost City.

The next day after arriving in Jaipur we stopped at the gate of Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) where we took a picture and saw a really bad snake charmer, the snake kept slithering away from him.
Next we took off to the Amber Fort at the top of a hill. To get up there we could either walk or take an elephant ride. Of course we would never miss an opportunity to ride an elephant, so we boarded our elephant and took off for a bumpy ride to the top of the fort.
Below is a picture of us with the military compound in the back, which is right next to the Amber Fort.
Matt on our elephant. Notice the wall along the mountain top that is connected all the way around us to the Fort.
More of the wall.
Mirrored room inside one of the buildings in the Fort.
Here we stopped to take a picture of a palace in the water that is only accessible by boat.
Next we went to Maharaja’s City Palace and observatory where we say different sundials, astronomy instruments, and the largest sundial in the world.
The next day we headed back to Delhi and boarded our plane back to Japan. As much as we enjoyed our trip we were glad to be back home where it’s clean, quiet and relatively not as crowded as India. It was a once in a lifetime trip and we are happy that we got to experience it together!
A big thanks to Wendy Wu Tours. The only way we recommend to see India!
