Oahu, Hawai’i

Shortly after our Hong Kong trip (2 days later) Matt had to go to Hawaii for Army training that was 2 weeks long. He went ahead of me  and then I came a week later. There was no availability on base for a hotel so Matt stayed down in Waikiki. When I first got there we went to the Dole Pineapple Plantation and did the giant maze and took a tour of the plantation. The we went to the Northshore and checked out the beach there.

The next day we tried to get into Pearl Harbor, but the winds were so strong that they cancelled all ferries to the memorial. So we had to come back another day. Instead we took out rental car and drove up the south and east coast of the island. We stopped along the way and took some pictures.

The next day we went to a Luau at a place called Paradise Cove with our friend Chris who is stationed in Hawaii. We enjoyed Hawaiian activities, eating, dances from different parts of Polynesia and watched a fire show.

Later that week we went to the Polynesian Culture Center and took a tour and had another Luau buffet and then watched a show with dancing and fire throwing that followed the many islands of Polynesia through story telling, but weren’t allowed to take pictures of the show.

The last part of our trip we went to Pearl Harbor and took a tour out to the resting grounds of the USS Arizona.
