Tokyo, Japan

For our last weekend before Matt’s knee surgery we went to Tokyo to do the sightseeing thing. We’ve been there before, but for other purposes! First we visited Tokyo Skytree which is the highest tower in the world and just opened in May. Since it had just opened there were a ton of people there so the lines were so long.

Next we went to Sensoji Temple and did some ice cream eating and some shopping at the vendors
Matt tried Sesame flavored ice cream. Imagine it for yourself…it tastes like Sesame oil.
Next up we went to an Alice in Wonderland themed restaurant and ate a set menu that we shared and it was pretty good!
After Alice in Wonderland we went over to the Hyatt Park Hotel where the movie Lost in Translation was filmed and that Matt is obsessed with. We went up to the roof top bar, had to pay a cover and ordered one expensive drink each, just to sit in the exact locations that Bill Murray and a Scarlett Johansson sat when they meet in the movie. Those two seats happened to be the only seats left in the bar and we were seated there by chance!
After that we went to our hotel and had a drink at the rooftop bar which had it’s liquor displayed in a cool window.
The next day we went up to Tokyo tower which is another tower, much older with different views of the city.
We then had brunch at the American resort hotel New Sanno and then headed home.
